Each pendant is
individually crafted by hand using a variety of artistic media,
technique and effect. In this specific presentation, each
one has been hand painted with a precision brush and Artist's
Quality paints, prismatic glitters and iridescent powders.
Each pendant is constructed out of what I call integrated polymer
which also includes polymer clay and resin. They are made in
sets of 7. Each set is completed over a minimum of 3 days
depending on how much artistic work is to be done in the painting
stage.
This specific series
of pendants is dedicated to the
Winner's
Walk of Hope
which is a Canadian
organization of people who have been touched by ovarian cancer and
who are working together to support cancer research in the hope of
finding the cure. It is a dedicated group of survivors,
family and friends who come together every year all across Canada
to celebrate their survival through a very special annual event
which they call The Winner's Walk of Hope.
The sunflower is the
Winner's Walk of Hope symbol. I started creating
these pendants to give a survivor in our family my support in the
hope that by creating some sunflowers of my own, I could
contribute to the beauty of the walk. At the event I met Liane Moore
who has been ambitiously helping with production ever since!
They were so well
received by the people at the Windsor Winner's Walk of Hope this
year that I have been given a huge boost of encouragement to
continue creating them and start selling them. 20% of the
proceeds from each pendant sold will go to the Winner's Walk of
Hope to help with their fundraising goals.
The next event will
be held September 14, 2010 at Malden Park in Windsor.
